Arsenal could raid Brighton yet again, this time for Kaoru Mitoma

Kaoru-Mitoma-Arsenal-Move

As seen by their acquisitions of Ben White and Leandro Trossard, the Gunners have a habit of stealing the Seagulls’ best players – and Edu may return to Brighton in the summer to try to make a deal for the in-demand forward Kaoru Mitoma in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Following a much anticipated £50 million move to the N5 in 2021, Arsenal signed Benjamin White, meanwhile Leandro Trossard joined Arsenal for £27 million in the January transfer window. The Gunners want to add to Mikel Arteta’s roster over the next offseason in an effort to maintain their growth and, ultimately, their pursuit of success and domination.

Mitoma, with a contract that does not expire until 2025, Brighton might ask for a hefty price this summer to part with their star striker. The Seagulls reportedly want to hand Mitoma a club-record new contract to remain with Roberto De Zerbi’s side and reject offers from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, and Real Madrid. Thus far in the 2022/23 season, the Japanese ace has scored eight goals laying off further six in 26 appearances across all competitions.

After successfully stealing Trossard from Brighton in the January, the Arsenal attempted to steal Moises Caicedo, but were unsuccessful. Brighton has turned down two offers from Arsenal and a reported £55 million in cash from Chelsea for the Ecuadorian midfielder. Although though Caicedo just signed a new long-term contract with Brighton, he is still likely to be the subject of intense competition for a transfer this next summer. Mitoma is the latest member of De Zerbi’s squad to be linked with a transfer away from the south coast, following in the footsteps of Alexis Mac Allister, who may potentially depart the club before the next season as well.

White’s transfer to Arsenal and Marc Cucurella’s to Chelsea this summer are just two examples of Brighton’s history of asking astronomical transfer payments for its best players. It would take a huge sum to convince the Seagulls to let Mitoma depart and finish the transfer to north London if Edu decides to raid them again.
