Arsenal have finally paid the €500,000 bonus for Emiliano Martinez to Superliga club Independiente that they have been dodging since November. Despite the financial constraints that pandemic Coronavirus has been putting on footballing world, Arsenal have still managed to pay due to their goalkeeper.

While many clubs across Europe have already cut the costs with a few seeing players cutting their wages that’s why the amount that Martinez’ former club is getting right now is more than welcome.

According to Clarin, Gunners have made payment of €500,000 to the Superliga club as a bonus. Arsenal owed the club €500,000 from November after the goalkeeper had completed 10 appearances for them.

They had previously dodged the amount by claiming that Europa League didn’t count but Independiente did not give up and came up with another request this month for which they have been eventually paid.

Such a sum may be small for Arsenal but it comes in as a great relief for a club like Independiente that had been struggling to pay debts and wages to their players due to pandemic Covid-19. It is a relief to their cash flows.

Arsenal could however have gone without paying this expense as they had already done this one time before. But the fact that they have paid the bonus during such crisis speaks volume about a club with rich history.
