Arsenal have that ‘essence’ of football back in them

Last night, the game against Newcastle United promised nothing but a bright future. The Gunners brought into pitch with them the ‘essence’ of Invincibles and the ‘elegance’ of Arsenal.

If Mikel Arteta’s team continues to play that they played yesterday, particularly in the second half, football will be much fun than it can be. The second half was so beautifully constructed by the Gunners that it looked nothing but a short movie of innumerable goal-scoring chances.

In the first-half though, Arsenal were struggling to get their foot on the accelerator but once they did, there was no stopping them. The attacking unit was brilliantly accompanied with the like of Bukayo Saka in the defence and presence of Nicolas Pepe in the wing. Two of those who promise a bright future.

The Emirates had a few empty seats with their team coming off a boring game against Burnley. And to address the loss of fans, Arsenal players made sure to make them regret sitting on the couch. The unit was brilliant to say the least.

While Arsenal were only averaging 9 attempts per game until yesterday, they totalled a good deal of 15 attempts with 7 of those being on target and 4 of which ending into the nets. A nice way to slap the fans who kept the seats empty.

And not to forget the player that a lot have not talked about. Dani Ceballos’ presence in the midfield and his playmaking ability took the game into a different level. The midfielder touched the ball more than anyone else and was chief constructor everytime. Defense, offense, all of it was his ballgame.

Nicolas Pepe, overpriced and overrated? Meh. The youngster shut all the critics with brute force after being involved in 3 of the 4 goals and also building up for the one he did not get involved.

The presence of experienced candidates like Mesut Ozil and Aubameyang also made the difference with the youngster shining under their guidance.

The performance of Arsenal was nothing short of winning a trophy and if they continue to play they did last night, a silverware would soon be home.
