Arsenal sent William Saliba a message to come back in January

Mikel Arteta is off and running. The former Arsenal midfielder has announced his rebirth in style after winning in a commanding way over Manchester United and the Spaniard is not willing to stop now.

In a bid to strengthen the bench in lieu of taking Arsenal to the top four, Arteta and his team have called William Saliba as they are thinking of recalling the centre-back. Saliba is presently on a season-long loan to Saint Etienne but may well be back in the Gunners jersey.

The defender has signed for Gunners last season for £27 million but was sent back on loan to Saint Etienne. Arsenal, however, are now considering a call back of the youngster to boost up their faltering defence.

Arsenal originally wanted Saliba to gain game time at Etienne and develop into a complete player but the defensive crisis of the club has led to Arteta demanding him back.

Arsenal’s have been plagued with injury to players like Hector Bellerin, Sead Kolasinac, and Kieran Tierney, while Sokratis and Rob Holding have also been missing due to injury. The defence has not been stable to which Arteta demands a spine.

William Saliba too has been in and out of Saint Etienne squad due to injury but is well cured and fit to play the upcoming fixtures. The youngster was seen training with the French club amidst rumours of him joining London.

“Good morning Arsenal Fans!” St Etienne wrote in a tweet, which was prefixed by a waving emoji and ended with a smug face and a “call me” hand.

The Gunners are excited to call back their very own but are also keeping a tab on RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano who has been sensational for the club but may be allowed to leave with his contract expiring this season.

Whosoever joins Arsenal, one thing is certain that Arteta has arrived and he will not sit quietly until he gets the defenders he wants.
