Arsenal will make second bid in order to sign this French star

Having been rejected an earlier bid of €7 million for Lorient FC striker Alexis Claude Maurice; Premier League giants Arsenal will look to make an improved bid to lure him to the Emirates Stadium over the next few weeks.

With Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Arsenal have one of the most lethal strike forces in the Premier League as the goalscoring duo can prove to be a lethal partnership when they click together.

But the Gunners need to have a stronger squad and some depth which will allow them to compete for silverware in the near future on a regular basis. English forward Danny Welbeck is also confirmed to leave the club and Arsenal should find a decent replacement for the 28-year-old.

Unai Emery will not be given plenty of funds to bring in players this summer as a reported £40 million budget is all that he will be offered. Arsenal initially submitted a transfer bid for Lorient FC star forward Alexis Claude Maurice but their first offer of €7 million was rejected.

Alexis and Guendouzi used to be teammates until the later moved to Arsenal last year

The 21-year-old Claude Maurice has shown that he is quite a goalscorer as he netted 14 times and notched up four assists as well in 35 Ligue 2 appearances last season.

Arsenal is now looking to up their bid and offer a bid of €13 million for the French youth international who can operate through the middle or on the flanks as well. Claude Maurice has regularly been linked with a move to Arsenal and could join his former teammate Matteo Guendouzi at North London.

But Arsenal will face competition to sign Claude Maurice as West Ham United have also tabled a £10 million offer for the attacker, the French outfit are looking to cash in on their prized asset only if a bid of €20 million or more comes in.

A host of clubs in Europe are also keeping close tabs on Claude Maurice’s situation at Lorient.
