Reiss Nelson is one of the starlets in the Arsenal’s youth academy who have the potential to make it to the very top in this game.
Reiss Nelson has been supporting the Gunners since he was young and have been part of the academy of Arsenal since he was nine. The academy coaches were really impressed with the talent of the player. He was subsequently moved up to squads of upper age level in a regular basis.
Reiss Nelson came into the limelight after the brilliant performance in the UEFA European Under 17 Championship for England in 2016. He had scored three important Goals in four games in that tournament.
Reiss Nelson had made 35 appearances for the Arsenal Youth Teams. He was phenomenal for the under 21 team of the Gunners in the nine games he played in 2016-17 campaign. Nelson’s several brilliant performances had earned him the first professional contract for Arsenal following his 17th birthday.
Reiss Nelson was included in the Arsenal’s squad for the pre season tour of 2017-18 campaign. Nelson had made his first appearance for the Gunners against Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup in that pre season tour. He had also featured in the Emirates Cup for the Gunners. Nelson had provided an assist in the Olivier Giroud’s goal against Benfica in the Emirates Cup.
Reiss Nelson made his Arsenal competitive debut against Chelsea in the FA Community Shield. He came on as a substitute in that match against the Blues. It was Nelson’s first big trophy win for the senior side of his Arsenal career. Nelson made his European debut for Arsenal against FC Koln in the first group stage match of Europa League coming as a substitute. He was included in the Starting XI of Arsenal for the first time against Doncaster Rovers in the League Cup. Nelson made several appearances in the League Cup for the Gunners. He has also featured in two Premier League matches and five Europa League matches for the club.
The 18 year old boy can made at both the flanks. He can also be deployed as an attacking midfielder for the team. He is certainly one of the best youngsters of England in recent times. But there is one question hovering around the Emirates— ‘ Is Reiss Nelson Getting Enough Chances In The Arsenal Side?’
The answer of the question is obviously ‘No’. It is quite impossible for an youngster to take part in the starting lineup in the star studded squad of the Gunners. With the season going to it’s fag end the Gunners have a very less chance to finish in the top four in the Premier League. The only thing remaining for them is the Europa League.
Arsene Wenger and Co will try to win the Europa League with all their efforts to secure a place in the Champions League next season. The players need to stay fit for that tournament to give their best. So, we can expect Reiss Nelson to be in the starting lineup for the Gunners in the last few matches of the Premier League.
