Calum Chambers have certainly made his first impressing quite strong after run of impressive performances in 2014/15. Many already regarded him as Arsenal’s future right back, someone who would stay there for a long time.

But due to injuries he missed majority of 2015/16 season, and Hector Bellerin grabbed the opportunity with both hands. He impressed everyone with his frisky pace and defensive as well as offensive abilities. Bellerin already looked to have put Chamber’s right-back career to bed and Arsene Wenger changed Calum’s defensive position to center back.

With change in the positions – Calum Chambers have to grind his way back into Arsenal squad. Chambers was loaned out to Middlesbrough to get some minutes at center of the defence.

At Middlesbrough, Calum Chambers proved that Arsene Wenger’s decision to change his position might be beneficial for the English lad. Chambers was impressing at his loan spell and was certainly one of the best performers for the Boro’s that season.

RETURN TO ARSENAL

Arsenal possesses talented young defenders like Shkodran Mustafi, Rob Holding and they bought Konstantinos Mavropanos in the winter. The competition is already high to get a spot in the eleven as experienced defenders viz. Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker even come into consideration.

And when Arsene Wenger picks Calum Chambers in the eleven Arsenal fans are seen fuming, but his performance statics prove otherwise. Yes, he has not performed as efficiently as last season but at the same time he has not been given quite of proper game time to settle in.

Arsenal’s defence have not been upto the mark lately, and some game time at the center to Calum Chambers might help them change their fortunes. Its only Calum’s second season as a Centre Back and it looks like he can improve himself into a Premier League worthy defender.

He stats are just below teams first team defenders Koscielny and Mustafi.

Lets not forget, Calum Chambers is only twenty-three and still has a time to develop himself. And his vulnerability is just another of the advantage he provides.
