Carl Jenkinson to make a move across the border?

Recent reports have suggested that Scottish Premier League side Celtic are potentially looking to secure a deal for Arsenal’s right back Carl Jenkinson in the summer transfer window.

This could be a blessing in disguise for most of the fans at Arsenal football club as English full back Carl Jenkinson could be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium following the void at Celtic football club. The 27-year-old right back has failed to impress new manager Unai Emery who is considering a mass overhaul of players and offloading the unwanted stock at the club.

Celtic though have a few defensive short comings of their own as Mikael Lusti is on his way to play for Belgian club Gent while Jeremy Toljan and Cristian Gamboa have also departed the Celtic Park. The Scottish champions will now look to sign new players this summer and bring in reinforcement to keep their dominance in the League and keep fierce rivals Rangers at an arm’s length.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon is reportedly eyeing a move for the out of favor Carl Jenkinson at right back to solve his issues at the back.

Jenkinson arrived at Arsenal back in 2011 from Charlton Athletic and has managed only 70 first team appearances and been sent out on loan as well. The defender has had spells at Birmingham and West Ham United but never really managed to nail down a starting berth at Arsenal.

Although Jenkinson’s contract expires in a months’ time this summer the right-back was not on the list of players that will be axed. A contract extension also hasn’t been offered for Jenkinson and there are doubts over his future at the Emirates Stadium.

Jenkinson also managed only eight games for Arsenal last season under Emery and is regarded as surplus at the club. Celtic might be taking a risk by signing the 27-year-old because of his inconsistency and inability to play regularly at the top level.

The full-back has been capped once for the England national team and is on a £45,000 a week contract, but Jenkinson has always shown sheer passion and determination always proclaiming his love for Arsenal.
