Didier Deschamps speaks about Matteo Guendouzi after he’s called up to French squad once again!

Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has been called up by Didier Deschamps to replace injured Blaise Matuidi in the French national team squad for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Moldova and Albania.

After Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi was forced to withdraw through injury, Guendouzi, who had been part of the French U21 squad join up with France senior side for their qualifiers in November.

The 20-year-old was also called up as injury replacement for Manchester United star Paul Pogba in September, but is yet to make his debut. Deschamps side could seal qualification for the European Championships next summer with victory against Moldova, with a second qualified   against Albania to follow.

France manager Didier Deschamps explained his decision to call-up Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi into the fold once again and he spoke about young Matteo’sress  capabilities while speaking to pat France’s Clairefontaine training base today

“Matteo has been here before. We are in a similar situation here as we were in last September when he replaced Paul Pogba. Mattéo is on top with his club and with the U21s. We are in a position of continuity on this subject matter. He is a young player with strong potential even if he has yet to have any playing time with us.”
