According to the latest reports, Premier League side Arsenal is reportedly eyeing up a move to sign Borussia Dortmund center back Dan-Axel Zagadou in the summer transfer window in order to bolster their defense which has been quite leaky, to say the least.
Even before Unai Emery took charge of Arsenal football club last summer, the Gunners were never a strong forte in their defensive department during Arsene Wenger’s last few seasons in charge of the club. However, that needs to change if the North London club is going to compete for major honors and attempt at winning silverware on a regular basis.
The current stock of defenders at Arsenal just isn’t good enough to win titles but the club has identified a promising defender from the Bundesliga by the name of is Dan-Axel-Zagadou. The 19-year-old center back was extremely impressive for Borussia Dortmund last season as he helped them to a 2nd place finish on the German table.
The exciting teenager put in some top quality displays for Dortmund at the Westfalenstadion and is held in high regard at the club by his manager and the fans. However, his impressive performances at such a tender age have attracted interest from several top suitors in the European continent including English side Arsenal.
But one major stumbling block for Arsenal to sign Zagadou is the fact that they have a relatively low transfer budget of only around £45 million to splash in the summer transfer window. But after joining Dortmund from Paris Saint Germain, the 19-year old’s value has risen tremendously over the past two seasons.
Zagadou was imperative for France in the U-20 World Cup and his impressive outings will certainly put a mammoth price tag on his name. Although Lucian Favre is not too keen on allowing Zagadou to leave Dortmund this summer he might not be able to resist some of the lucrative offers that come in for the defender.
But reports in France state that Arsenal will not be able to afford the teenage sensation because of their transfer budget and Zagadou could move to another destination.
