Maximilian ‘Max’ Meyer – the rising German diva is known for his abilities with the ball at the middle of the park. He is one of the most highly rated upcoming midfielder wanted by top European clubs. Max is a versatile midfielder who can play in the attacking as well as defensive roles at the center of the pitch.
Meyer joined Schalke’s youth setup in 2009 and after run of impressive performances for their reserve side – he was handed his first-team debut in February 2013. It didn’t took long for Max to impress, he created a goal for Michel Baston helping his side to 2-2 draw.
Max Meyer made his senior debut for Germany on 13 May 2014 starting the fixture against Poland.
Max Meyer is under contract with Schalke until the summer of 2018 and no new deal have been agreed yet. It is likely that Meyer will leave Die Konigsblauen on a free transfer with all the big clubs laying a red carpet for his signatures. Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal are among-st the English giants chasing his signature.
STYLE OF PLAY
Max Meyer had been compared to Mesut Ozil in his early days at Schalke with the similarities of his creativity with the ball. Maximilian is even a technically gifted lad who can play with both feet. Over the years, we have seen his dribbling and his confidence on the ball. Meyer is not good at finishing the ball and can get easily lost in a game (Yes, comparison with Mesut Ozil plays a part here too)
HOW CAN HE FIT AT ARSENAL?
Max is recently deployed as a defensive midfielder for Schalke. This well serves that he has learned about the offensive as well as defensive side of the game. And his ability with the both feet as well as his creativity with the ball has led many Arsenal fans to compare him with Santi Cazorla.
Arsenal are in a desperate need of a midfielder who can convert defensive runs into attacking ones. Someone who provides in-game advantage technically. Max would fit into the Arsenal needs and he can develop into a beast in the future.
Max would even have quite of a chemistry into this Arsenal side, with former Schalke player Sead Kolasinac already in the ranks and Meyer even has his International team-mates of German squad — Shkodran Mustafi and Mesut Ozil plying their trade with the North-London based club.
Now before starting lets get one thing clear, Jack Wilshere is Arsenal. Over the years Jack Wilshere has been Arsenal supporters most loved player and the English international’s love for Arsenal is crystal clear. Wilshere came up through Arsenal’s youth academy and have come to impress the Gooners since early age of 16.
Jack Wilshere was tagged as ‘the future’ after his performances at highest level at young age – it just doesn’t feel right to link the future away from Arsenal.
With a hard luck of injury in past couple of seasons – the hero has had a hard time craving his place in Arsenal XI, but a run of performances this season has shown Jack is Back and playing the way he is playing right now : that is probably the best England has got.
STYLE OF PLAY
Wilshere is a highly mobile midfielder who plays with low center of gravity. His link up play in and around the opposition penalty area and ability to control the pace of the game are some of his core attributes. Jack is someone who can defy the result of the game single-handedly.
Wilshere is someone who cannot get lost in the game. If the ball doesn’t find Jack, Jack finds the ball.
He is someone, Arsenal can trust for a long-long time – someone who can lead Arsenal to a long way.
Both Max Meyer as well as Jack Wilshere are talents all clubs would like to possess, both of them are technically even and exceed in one area or another.
Considering for Arsenal, Jack Wilshere will be a better fit than Max Meyer. Yes, Jack has his injury problems but if he stays fit and contends for even 75% of the season – he his a better choice.
As I have discussed above, Jack Wilshere is Arsenal and it will be tough to watch him play for another club. Thereupon, he even possesses qualities centimeters above Meyer. The English man is also Premier League proved and have tons of experience at the highest level.
