Arsenal signed Greek prospect Konstantinos Mavropanos in the January transfer window, though he has not yet made his Arsenal senior debut.

Arsenal have faced sides like Ostersund, Bournemouth and Swansea City – yet Konstantinos was not given a nod into the starting eleven and he has not even made an appearance from the bench.

At the moment Konstantinos Mavropanos is featuring for Arsenal’s U23 side wherein he has made four appearances with two clean sheets under his name.

His performances depict that he is a physical center back who is superb in air and possesses decent ball winning ability. Mavropanos looks matured and effective in one on one situations. He is someone who can keep the ball and most notably Konstantinos Mavropanos is a grinder, who works hard off the ball.

Even at a young age, he has a strong mentality and character who is as well a leader on the pitch.

With Arsenal defence looking absolute shambles recently, Konstantinos Mavropanos deserves a chance to show what he has got.

After recent humiliation against Ostersund at Emirates in the Europa League , Arsene Wenger hinted at possible play time for Mavropanos.

I have Mavropanos, who is doing very well in training,” Arsene Wenger said. “At some stage I have to give them (Mavropanos and Mertesacker) games as well.”

With AC Milan in the knockout stage, it doesn’t look like he has got a chance in the Europa League atleast in this fixture. He may feature further in the competition if Arsenal goes ahead.

In the Premier League, Arsenal do not have very tough fixtures until the end of the season and Konstantinos may be given his deserved chance.

Here are Arsenal’s fixtures until the end of the season:

  • Brighton & Hove Albion (A)
  •  Watford (H)
  •  Leicester City (A)
  •  Stoke City (H)
  •  Southampton (H)
  •  Newcastle United (A)
  •  West Ham United (H)
  •  Manchester United (A)
  •  Burnley (H)
  •  Huddersfield Town (A)

Top four finish looks highly unlikely for Arsenal this season, and looking at their defence at the moment – it surely cannot get any worse for the Gunners. Konstantinos Mavropanos should really be given his chance.
