Mainz turned down Arsenal’s bid of £31million for Jean-Philippe Gbamin

According to German newspaper Bild, MAINZ have rejected an offer in region of £31million for Jean-Philippe Gbamin from an Premier League club believed to be Arsenal.

Arsenal were linked with Gbamin back in June as reported by French Outlet RMC.

Jean-Philippe Gbamin showed promising signs last season with Bundesliga side Mainz, and that has attracted interests from around the Europe.

With already four defensive midfielders at his disposal(Matteo Guendouzi, Mohamed Elneny, Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka), the arrival of another defensive midfielder should be highly unlikely for Unai Emery unless someone departs either on loan or permanent departure.

Mainz director Rouven Schroder has also made it bold and clear that his superstar Jean-Philippe is not for sale.“Jean-Philippe is not on the market,” Rouven assured.

“We too have some pretensions, and he’s a big part of our plans for the new season. There’s no ifs and buts!”

Gbamin started 29 of Mainz’s 34 Bundesliga matches last season and he has earned plaudits for his composer and play.
