Concern is growing over Arsenal management, Should Unai Emery stay as Gunners manager or is his time up at the Emirates stadium? Without a win in last five Premier League fixtures now and just one in last seven games in all competitions, the Spaniard is under fire from Arsenal supporters who are disappointed at a poor run of form.
Reports over the weekend suggest, Arsenal are looking for someone of replacing Emery and the North Londoners have their former player on a shortlist.
Mikel Arteta, who was linked with the job when Arsene Wenger is seen as the perfect man to replace Unai Emery as Arsenal manager and Manchester City will not stand in Mikel Arteta’s way to become new boss if Unai Emery is sacked.
An Etihad source said: “Mikel loves working at City and learning from the best manager in the world in Pep. Everyone knows he wants to be his own man one day, though. Mikel still has a lot of affection for Arsenal from his playing days there.
“He knows City would never dream of standing in the way of his ambitions if an attractive offer came from a top club. That’s not how they work, nor Pep. They want to empower people and see them get on.
“It was the same with Patrick Vieira when he was behind the scenes at City before wanting to manage at New York City FC.”
