Nicolas Pépé leaves Ivory Coast camp amid injury claims

Arsenal’s record signing Nicolas Pépé has left Ivory Coast training camp ahead of their upcoming friendlies against Benim and Tunisia in France.

Nico arrived from Lille in the summer and has featured couple of times from the bench since, before Unai Emery named him for the tunnel against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. North London Derby was wingers last bow for Arsenal before going into the international break where he featured for the full ninety before Ibrahim Kamara (Ivory Coast head coach) named Pépé in the upcoming friendlies.

Les Éléphants started their preparations earlier this week and Ivory Coast Football Association on Thursday confirmed Nico arrived to the camp with an injury.

“Nicolas Pépé, injured with his club, came in to declare it late on Wednesday afternoon,” a statement read.

The extent and type of injury is not yet known.

Unai Emery side travels to Vicarage Road for a tricky tie against Watford post international break followed by kicking off their Europa League campaign four days later and Emery will be hoping for his star signing be fit on time.
