Reiss Nelson only had a year left on his contract with Arsenal, and there was plenty of speculation about his future at North-London with all the majority of top European clubs interested in his signatures. Thankfully, all the rumors were put to sleep when Reiss Nelson penned a long term contract at Arsenal last week before going on-loan to Hoffenheim for the rest of the season.

Reiss Nelson is regarded as one of the upcoming wonder-kids of the modern era and Hoffenheim are certainly going to enjoy another of Arsenal’s product after Serge Gnabry’s huge success last season.

Its difficult to compare a talent of Reiss Nelson with anyone at the highest level. Though his electrifying pace and enormous dribbling abilities have laid comparisons with Serge Gnabry. He is by no means a normal winger. Reiss likes to drift inside and link-up with the midfield with his impressive passing skills. Nelson can take opponents by surprise with skills he possess at young age of eighteen.

Reiss Nelson has shown qualities but not on consistent basis and playing in Bundesliga with Hoffenheim under Julian Nagelsmann gives him a chances of showcase his talent week-in-week-out.

Julian Nagelsmann explained to media – ‘Why Hoffenheim signed Reiss Nelson on loan from Arsenal?’

We had to react to the fact that we lose many established regulars over a longer period of time,” he said. “As for a one-on-one player with pace, we did not have that much in the squad anymore, so signing one was my wish.

“Reiss is a player akin to Serge Gnabry, maybe not so well developed. He wanted to leave the club (Arsenal) to get more playtime. He can play four different positions, the ten, the eight, and both outside striker positions, and he has incredible speed to get behind the line.

“[Nelson] can do everything on the ball. He has not had the experience, but I love to develop players, even a player from another club.”

Many Arsenal fans will tell you that Reiss already has capabilities to feature for Arsenal’s first-team especially wide up the field, but Nelson has got far to go. Those who watch him on regular basis understands he still needs time at the highest level.

Arsenal won’t be the right place for Reiss Nelson to develop this season, as fans are desperate for results now, particularly getting back into Champions League.

Hopefully, Germany will enjoy Reiss Nelson as he rounds out the aspects of his game. Good Luck Reiss!
