Shkodran Mustafi, a name which has had its ups and downs at the Emirates and has has gone on extreme levels both sides. All the way throughout the summer and beyond, Mustafi has been rumoured to leave Arsenal in order to find a new challenge and regular playing time but nothing ever materialized.

Commeth the winter, Shkodran is again linked with an exit away from Emirates but Mikel Arteta didnt let him go due to untimely injury to Calum Chambers as the Englishman was ruled out from the season and Arteta didn’t want any further defensive crisis.

Arsenal did manage to bring in  Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares last month and that left many talking about beginning of Musti’s end at Arsenal, but with trust shown by Mikel in him & the way that has paid off lately it looks like he will stay.

The German international in an exclusive interview with Skysports hinted that there is a fair chance he could remain at Arsenal beyond the summer transfer window.

When asked if he saw his future at Arsenal, Mustafi replied via Sky Sports: “Why not? I have always taken things day to day.

“We had a game on Thursday, we have the next important game at the weekend and as long as I am playing for a club – it doesn’t matter which one – I play now for Arsenal and played before for previous ones.

“I always gave everything until the last minute and when I decide or when the club and I decide it is going to continue I am happy to continue, if not then we have to go forward.

“You know I think in the beginning of the season, not being selected, not making the squad, it has been difficult. But I am a person who tries to see more the positive things than the negatives. I think that helped me a lot.

“Having my family around me – my kids, my wife – because life is not only football. That’s something I kept remembering to myself.
