Should Arsenal be looking to loan Marquinhos this winter?

Arsenal signed the 19-year-old Brazilian winger Marquinhos from Sao Paulo last summer for a transfer fee close to €3M. And initially he was slotted with the academy while training with the first team for Mikel & his men to take a look at him. His integration into the U23s was seamless, as he netted four goals and recorded two assists in under 400 minutes of action.

Him looking too good for kids ball, Mikel Arteta called him up for Europa League group-stage fixtures where he bagged a goal and an assist for the gunners in their 2-1 victory over FC Zurich in the Europa League in his debut game for the club. But he has not been a regular for the club (as expected), playing only five games for the club in all competitions including the Premier League, Carabao Cup (EFL Cup) and the Europa League.

With that being said, it might just be better for Marquinhos to move out on loan to a club where he gets enough gametime and to harness his talent. With Arsenal expected to bring in a winger, that might look dim now with Arsenal lead target Mykhailo Mudryk moving to the London rivals Chelsea when they offered some crazy money.

Marquinhos‘ chances of having minutes for Arsenal are now very unlikely, unless they come in the Europa League – where the Gunners are expected to be as feisty and Mikel will want to take the trophy with him as Arsenal march on towards Champions League.

It is reported that Arsenal are already looking for clubs that may be interested in signing the Brazilian on loan, but the move is subject to various factors including the number of minutes he may get at the particular club and the fact that they sign someone this window. However, the loan exit may only happen this winter as Arsenal are currently short of two forwards, with Gabriel Jesus and Reiss Nelson all nursing injuries.
