Sturridge should join Arsenal – claims former Crystal Palace star

Ex-Crystal Palace forward Clinton Morrison has revealed that Daniel Sturridge should consider playing for Arsenal following his departure from Champions League winning side Liverpool.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed earlier this week that the Reds will be offloading duo of Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno in the summer transfer window as they will not be given new contracts after their current ones expire.

Although Sturridge did not manage to play a major role in this season’s Champions League success, the Englishman is still quite a lethal finisher, according to former Irish international Clinton Morrison.

The 29-year-old joined Liverpool back in 2013 and was a goalscorer supreme in his prime. There was never any doubt about Sturridge’s finishing ability or his quality, nor his potential, however, one major stumbling block that was a setback in his career was the constant injuries that he suffered on a recurring basis.

Sturridge’s Liverpool career was plagued with injuries that kept him out of action for most periods but Morrison believes that Premier League club Arsenal would still be a proper destination for the former Chelsea striker.

While speaking to news outlet talkSport, the 40-year-old said that before all Sturridge’s injuries, he was the best forward in the country, “I believe Daniel Sturridge is still good enough to play in the Premier League. He’s got the great technical ability. Before all of his injuries, for me personally, I think he was the best English striker in the county. I thought he was better than Harry Kane. Maybe not in the top three or four, maybe not for Liverpool or Manchester City, but he could go to a team like Arsenal.”

Sturridge could form a formidable attacking partnership with Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang at the Emirates Stadium that could potentially become a hit at Arsenal.
