Arsenal go to Anfield again in the space of 3 days since a 3-1 defeat to the Champions, Liverpool in a league fixture. However, the upcoming game is a Carabao Cup fixture where both the clubs are expected to field a much different side as compared to the one on Monday.

Although it is expected for the Gunners to name their second team for this fixture, there exist certain interesting scenarios that will possibly depict the future of certain players such as Lucas Torreira, Sokratis, Matteo Guendouzi, Sead Kolasinac.

Potential Outgoings

Sead Kolasinac

Highly reported to be on his way back to Germany, this time to Bayer Leverkusen. Sky sports Germany have confirmed Bayer’s interest in the Bosnian left-back and said that they were willing to pay a fee of €10-12 million with add-ons. It is going to be interesting to observe whether Mikel Arteta would play him today, ahead of a possible transfer, or will Kolasinac be protected from any risk of injury.

Lucas Torreira

From being the missing link in the Arsenal midfield to a misfit, Lucas Torreira’s spell in Arsenal has been a hit and miss. He seems to be never settled in the country and being unable to get past his language barrier and also being a type of midfielder who Arteta’s system does not need, he is desperate to seek greener pastures. Atletico Madrid seems to be highly interested in the Uruguayan but prefers to get him on a loan basis. His agent is reportedly in Madrid, trying to negotiate a permanent move to the Spanish Capital.

Sokratis

The Greek International has barely featured under Arteta and looked certain to leave to Napoli(once they offload Koulibaly). Now that Koulibaly is staying in Napoli, Arsenal are struggling to offload the center back at the moment. Reports have mentioned the interest of OGC Nice have been keeping tabs on the 32-year-old center back.

Matteo Guendouzi

Highly expected to leave the club for a decent fee after having disciplinary issues, Arsenal has failed massively to offload the French under-21 international to another club on a permanent deal. Currently training with the first team, Guendouzi still seeks greener pastures and has reportedly attracted interest from French club Marseille, on a loan deal. No other concrete interests yet.

Shkodran Mustafi

A reported interest from Italian club Lazio, who are willing to pay a fee in the region of €10-15 million. No concrete offer or contact yet.

Reiss Nelson

Considering his competition in the first-team squad, he has reportedly got multiple loan offers from Premier League clubs such as Crystal Palace, Brighton, Burnley, Southampton. Most likely to go on a loan on deadline day.

Potential Incomings

Houssem Aouar

Lyon are adamant with their price tag of €50million and Arsenal are reportedly confident to negotiate a lower price around the region of €45million with add ons. Lyon’s CEO Jean-Michel Aulas have given a deadline till Friday for Arsenal to strike a deal with the French club, on a press announcement after Lyon signing a potential Aouar replacement in the form of Lucas Paquetá.

Thomas Partey

Simple deal to complete, complicated by financial situation. Release clause of €45million to be paid or no deal. Could happen only if Arsenal are able to shift their players who are deemed to be surplus to requirements.

These potential deals will be in the mind of Mikel Arteta, while he thinks of a lineup for this cup game. It could be a chance for new signings Runarsson and Saliba to feature and gain valuable game time.
