Unai Emery has taken ten months to finally realise Ozil’s best position – is No.10

Since taking over at Arsenal, Unai Emery has had fair bit of problems with Arsenal star-studded midfielder Mesut Ozil with the 30-year-old finding himself out-of-favor for most of Emery’s first six months in England.

But Arsenal gaffer Unai Emery believes he has finally found Mesut’s best position after about 10 months into the job. Although, quite amusingly it won’t come as much of revelation for Arsenal faithfuls.

Mesut has persisted frustrating start under Unai Emery, with many doubting his £350,000-a-week wage – But

The retired German international has endured a pretty frustrating season, not really justifying his mammoth World Cup winner with Germany is enjoying quite a form since being reintroduced in the starting eleven, appearing in Arsenal’s last eight games, winning six of which, drawing against Spurs at Wembley and only one loss i.e. the first leg against Rennes in the Europa League.

After all of that, Emery has finally revealed that Ozil is best playing in the No10 role – SOMETHING MOST OF THE GOONER ALREADY KNEW.

Ozil found himself in middle of nowhere after Emery subbed him off at the stroke of half-time in the 1-1- draw against Brighton and Emery was quizzed with why Ozil has not started a Premier League away game since.

He replied: “Sometimes Mesut doesn’t play away because it’s a tactical decision and sometimes he doesn’t play because he has an injury.

“But now he is OK, he’s training every day and he can play in different systems.

“Maybe his best position is in a 4-2-3-1 but now he is also playing like a team player in a 4-3-1-2 or a 3-4-1-2.

“We can change the systems with him and he can play on the left, the right or in the middle.

“But the most important thing is to be ready to help the team in any way he can and now he is able to do that.”

WALK AT GOODINSON PARK – UPCOMING

Unai Emery & Co. will visit Everton (which is first of their five away Premier League fixtures remaining this season), with Watford, Wolves, Leicester and Burnley still to come on the road. And with race to top four going until the last thread, their ability to pick up points away will surely determine their chances of finishing for a Champions League spot with only couple of mathes at Emirates remaining.

Arsenal, so far, under Unai Emery in the Premier League, have picked up only 19 points on the road – conceding 27 goals in 14  matches.

Arsenal boss insists he is “confident” but also wary of the threat Marco Silva’s pose.

He added: “We are thinking game by game. We know five matches away of seven is a big challenge.

“Away we want to achieve good performances as at the Emirates Stadium. I think we have confidence now. We know it’s very difficult.

“It’s a long way for the last matches. Sunday against Everton is the most important match for us, we know other teams will demand a lot from us because they will take a lot of points.

“For every team it’s the same. We don’t set up differently. Usually every team gets more points at home than away. Every team.”
