There were a lots of speculations over the vacancy of Arsenal’s managerial position after the end of the long term career of Arsene Wenger at the Emirates. Many big managers’ names were thought as the replacement of Arsene Wenger at Arsenal in the next season.

Mikel Arteta was one of the top contenders to join the Gunners in the next season as the new manager. Former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique was also in the talks to take the vacant position left by Arsene Wenger. But now it is seeming that the former Paris Saint Germain manager Unai Emery is going to take the charge of the Gunners in the next season. The official announcement will be made later this week.

Unai Emery is considered to be an experienced manager in the European circuit as he has managed various European clubs over the years. He has started his managerial career at Lorca Deportiva CF in Segunda Division B in Spain. He has helped the club to achieve promotion in the second division in his first season at charge. It was the first time in the history of the club. After some spells in Almeria, Valencia and Spartak Moscow, Unai Emery got his first real success at Sevilla as the manager. He has won three Europa League titles for the Spanish side in three consecutive seasons. Sevilla were also the runner up in the Copa Del Rey in 2015-16 season under the management of Unai Emery.

After his one year of extension of contract with Sevilla was over, Unai Emery left the Spanish club to join the Ligue 1 Giant Paris Saint Germain. Paris Saint Germain have won the Treble in this season Under his management. He has helped them to win Ligue 1 in 2017-18 season. Paris Saint Germain have also won Coupe de France, Coupe de la Ligue and Trophee des Champions in back to back two seasons when Unai Emery was in the charge of the club. After the end of the season, Unai Emery has decided to leave the club; though one year was still left in his contract. Probably the defeat against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash was one of the reasons of his leaving.

The winning percentage of Unai Emery for Sevilla was 51.7 percent and it has increased to 76.3 percent after coming to Paris Saint Germain. Unai Emery will like to keep this winning percentage after taking the charge of the Gunners in this season. One problem he might have to face after coming to the club in England. His English is not so fluent and he will need to improve this quality to stabilize himself in the new condition. Otherwise, with the experience under his belts the 46 year old Spanish manager is expected to have a great managerial career ahead at the Emirates.
