Albert-Sambi-Lokonga-Sevilla

During the summer transfer window, Sevilla is reportedly interested in signing Arsenal’s Albert Sambi Lokonga. The 23-year-old midfielder has struggled to establish himself at Arsenal after joining from Anderlecht, prompting the club to consider releasing him. Burnley, who have been promoted to the Premier League, are also thought to be keeping an eye on Lokonga’s position.

Lokonga joined Arsenal with great fanfare after impressing as captain of Anderlecht. He has, however, found it difficult to continuously infiltrate Mikel Arteta’s plans. Lokonga was loaned out to Crystal Palace in the second half of the season, however his playing time was limited due to the departure of manager Patrick Vieira.

Despite Lokonga’s young age of 23, Arsenal appears willing to cut their losses with him. Burnley is interested in signing the midfielder, and former Anderlecht manager Vincent Kompany is eager to reunite. Sevilla has now surfaced as another possible bidder for Lokonga.

Sevilla have a large number of former Premier League players in their squad and might offer Lokonga the opportunity to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season. The club has advanced to the Europa League final, where they will meet AS Roma. Sevilla’s pursuit of Lokonga may be influenced by the outcome of that game.

While Lokonga has shown flashes of talent, Arsenal’s swift improvement since his arrival needs more harsh decision-making when it comes to moulding the group. Lokonga’s time at Arsenal appears to have been a case of making the right move at the wrong moment for the young midfielder. As the summer transfer window approaches, Lokonga’s future remains uncertain, and Arsenal will need to carefully assess their alternatives to ensure their sustained competitiveness in the Premier League.
