Reds midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has sent a lovely message to his former club Arsenal following Liverpool’s Champions League triumph over Tottenham Hotspur in the final.

Liverpool lifted the Champions League for the sixth time in their illustrious history after a 2-0 victory in the final against Tottenham Hotspur. Although Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was an unused substitute, he kept his former allegiance in his heart after the euphoric night in Madrid.

The Gunners sold Chamberlain to Liverpool back in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee of £35 million after making 198 appearances for the North London club. The Englishman suffered an injury-hit season and barely featured for Liverpool this term but still collected a winner’s medal for being involved in the Liverpool squad.

After the victory over Spurs, the 25-year-old sent out a message to all the Gunners fans that supported him for seven years taking the mickey out of the rivalry between the two clubs,

“As former Gooners, we know what that one meant to all the Arsenal fans out there.

“It was massive for us at Liverpool, but ‘once a Gooner always a Gooner’ that’s what they say.”

Chamberlain joined Arsenal from south coast club Southampton back in 2011 and netted 20 times for the Londoners helping the club to win three FA Cups in the process.

He added that most of the Arsenal fans would have hated to see Tottenham win the final and insisted that the win was mainly for the loyal Arsenal fans,

“I had a personal sort of feeling in that game that we needed to get that done for all the people I left at Arsenal. I know they were all willing us on to win that one so I’m happy that we could do it.”
