Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette has admitted that a club like Arsenal must be playing regularly in the Champions League as a benchmark for the English giants.

Unai Emery endured a mixed season in his debut campaign as Arsenal manager. Despite going on a 22 game unbeaten streak across all competitions and reaching the final of the Europa League, Arsenal finished fifth on the Premier League table and will be ineligible to play in the Champions League next term.

The Spanish manager is still blessed to have a lethal strike force of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang leading the front line for Arsenal but it is no hiding from the fact that the two players would walk into Champions League teams.

But Arsenal fans will be glad to know what Lacazette thinks of their club as he admitted that a club the stature and size of Arsenal should be playing in the Champions League on a consistent basis.

The 28-year-old Frenchman was speaking to FourTwoFour in a recent interview and explained that he will try everything to try and win trophies with Arsenal but qualification for the elite tournament is the most important:

“A club like Arsenal has to be playing in the Champions League every season. We will start to think about winning the biggest titles in a few seasons, but first, we need to make sure we are in the Champions League consistently again.”
