Arsenal are in search of reinforcements for their left back, and one of their top candidates is Real Madrid’s Ferland Mendy, who is already on the transferable list. The Gunners have set a budget of no more than 20 million euros for the acquisition.

Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of Real Madrid, has made it clear that Mendy will not be part of his plans for the upcoming season. The French left-back, who arrived at Real Madrid with high expectations after impressing at Olympique de Lyon, has struggled to establish himself at Madrid. His time in the limelight was cut short when another compatriot, Eduardo Camavinga, emerged and claimed a starting role in that position.

The 2022-2023 season has been a difficult one for Mendy, marred by injuries and misfortune. He has only managed to feature in 25 games throughout the campaign, while Camavinga has taken over as the preferred option. Despite having a contract until 2025, Ancelotti has already informed Mendy that he will not be part of the team for the next season.

Initially, Real Madrid had hoped to sell Mendy for a price close to the 40-50 million euros they paid for his services. However, due to his limited playing time and the need to find a solution, the club has been forced to lower his value. The current asking price for Mendy is reportedly around 20 million euros.

According to reports, Arsenal have shown interest in Mendy following the reduced price tag. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta sees Mendy as a viable option to strengthen their left flank. While the Gunners are not looking to make a significant financial investment, the potential transfer fee of 20 million euros falls within their budgetary constraints for that position.

Bringing in Mendy would address Arsenal’s need for a left-sided reinforcement and provide competition and depth in that position. The Gunners will continue to monitor the situation closely and assess whether a deal can be reached within their desired financial parameters.
