The transfer of Ainsley Maitland-Niles has been subject to much contradictions between the clubs, as initially – Arsenal and AS Roma were held far apart from the option fee included in the loan. Though by the look of it, Roma are now finalising their deal to welcome Ainsley to Stadio Olimpico.
Gianluca Di Marzio claims that both the clubs will be formalizing the exchange of concerned documents tonight with a medical scheduled for tomorrow.
Despite multiple rumours with regards to the formula of the move, it’s now claimed that Maitland-Niles will be boarding his flight to Rome on a ‘dry’ loan with no option to convert the same into permanent come summer. The Italian side will pay €500k for the deal, with another probable €500k in bonuses.
There were reports saying Roma wanted to include option clause of €10m in the summer while the Gunners were initially holding out for €20m before dropping to €15m. Though now it seems that the clubs never reached common ground on the price and any possibility of making this a permanent move shall be discussed at the end of the loan spell.
