Arsenal Handed Boost In Signing Nicolas Pepe

Premier League giants Arsenal has been given a major transfer boost in the pursuit of signing Lille superstar Nicolas Pepe in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Unai Emery has done quite an exceptional job with Arsenal after taking over the reins from legendary predecessor Arsene Wenger in the summer of 2018. The Spanish boss has taken Arsenal to fifth place on the Premier League table but is likely to miss out on a top-four spot.

However, Arsenal can still qualify for the Champions League if they manage to win the Europa League and they look like solid contenders to achieve that aim. The Gunners take a 3-1 advantage to Spanish side Valencia tonight in a semifinal with the chance of making a serious statement.

But Emery is still in need of reinforcements in the summer if he needs to build a squad that can actually compete for major honors frequently in the near future. The 47-year-old wants to lure in a high-quality wide player who can add width to his side’s attack and has lined up Lille talisman Nicolas Pepe on his transfer wish list.

Pepe has scored 21 goals this season and notched up 11 assists as well across all competitions attracting heavy interest from several top European suitors. However, Arsenal has been given the advantage to bring the 23-year-old to the Emirates as reports claim that Pepe wants a move to England.

The Ivorian international was wanted by Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich but has rejected an offer to join the German champions in the summer as he wants to play his football in the Premier League. The only worrying factor for Arsenal to sign Pepe is the fact that he is valued at a fee of around £70 million, which could exceed their transfer budget.
