Unai Emery’s Arsenal is keen on luring Paris Saint Germain right back Thomas Meunier to the Emirates Stadium in a bid to hijack Manchester United’s deal.

Arsenal finished fifth on the Premier League table this season and also reached the finals of the Europa League. But a 4-1 loss in the final to local London rivals Chelsea meant that the Gunners will not be playing in the Champions League next season.

Instead, Arsenal will now join Manchester United in the Europa League as the two are also competing for similar transfer targets. For Arsenal, Hector Bellerin is still sidelined and Stephan Lichtsteiner has had a torrid season, and the Gunners need a decent right back to strengthen their back line.

Arsenal will be considering an overhaul in the summer and with the departures, there will also be a few arrivals at the club because of the reinforcements that they need. But Emery has identified that Thomas Meunier is the player who is at the top of his transfer wish list and the Spaniard is keen on bringing him to the Emirates in the summer.

Meunier has lost out his place in the Paris Saint Germain starting lineup and is desperate for a move away from the Parc Des Princes in the summer. The 27-year-old wants to play regular football and has the chance to do that in North London with Arsenal.

The Belgian right back is eager to work with his former manager Unai Emery as the pair tasted success when the 47-year-old manager was in charge of PSG for two seasons. Meunier has been capped 36 times for Belgium and is quite solid in defense.

Another club that is keen on bringing Meunier to the English Premier League is Manchester United and the Red Devils will face stiff competition for the signature of the Paris Saint Germain defender from Arsenal.
