Arsenal leading the race to sign Brazilian wonder kid

If latest reports are to be believed, Premier League giants Arsenal are set to get better of Manchester United and Barcelona in the race to sign Brazilian superstar Gabriel Martinelli this summer.

Arsenal, who currently sit fourth in the Premier League table and manager Unai Emery will be looking to finish inside the top four in order to be eligible to compete in the Champions League next term.

The Gunners also booked their spot to play in the Europa League quarter-finals and are set to face Serie A club Napoli in a much anticipated two-legged tie.

Martinelli has been on the wish list of many top clubs in the European as well as South American continent. The striker has risen to fame over the past few months after impressing in local village tournaments and he was signed up by Ituano back in 2015.

He made his senior appearance for the club only last year but at just a tender age of 17, Martinelli has caught the eye of plenty of top clubs in Europe including Manchester United and Barcelona. The teenager reportedly has had trials with the two European giants as well.

But now, Arsenal are set to win the race against close to 25 clubs in a bid to lure Martinelli to the Emirates Stadium in the summer. Top Brazilian sides are also battling hard for his signature, but Martinelli’s agent, Marcos Casseb has revealed that his client wants to move to Europe to pursue his footballing dream.

His evolution since last year is very fast, he is above average. The initial planning is for him to go straight to Europe.

It could be a great signing for Arsenal if a deal for the youngster does go through and he can look up to great forwards at the club like Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette for inspiration and as idols.
