Arsenal and Mikel Arteta have apparently planned a new position for talented academy product Emile Smith Rowe and might use him as a number 8 going forward.

Emile Smith Rowe has been a standout performer for Arsenal in previous seasons, and it’s no surprise that Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff are considering new positions for the talented youngster considering his lack of game time right now.

While Smith Rowe has predominantly played on the left wing this season, some members of the coaching staff believe that his true potential lies in playing as a central midfielder.

Deploying Smith Rowe in the central midfield role would allow him to use his creativity and vision to dictate the tempo of the game from a deeper position. With his ability to pick out a pass and create chances, something he would he picked up being a deputy to Mesut Ozil all these years.

While Emile Smith Rowe’s injury problems have been a concern this season, he has shown his resilience and determination to overcome them. Deploying him in a new position could also help to mitigate the risk of further injuries, as he would not be exposed to as many physical challenges on the wing.

Arteta has already experimented with Smith Rowe as a no.8 in the past, and it has been successful. With more opportunities in the central midfield position, Smith Rowe could become a key player for Arsenal in the future.

The prospect of deploying Emile Smith Rowe in a central midfield position is an exciting one for Arsenal fans. His creativity, energy and vision could be used to great effect in this role, and it could help him to develop into a world-class player. If this works out, it could also save us a big money signing in midfield.
