Arsenal’s pursuit of Declan Rice and Roméo Lavia a scare to Thomas Partey

Thomas Partey may well bid farewell to the Emirates stadium this summer. The Ghana international is supposedly being reached by suitors who believe his game time in 2023/24 will be the bare minimum under Mikel Arteta.

Partey was Arteta’s chief constructor in leading their title challenge this season as he made 33 appearances in all competitions functioning alongside Granit Xhaka and Martin Odegaard in the midfield. However, Partey may well have to make way for Declan Rice of West Ham and Romeo Lavia of Southampton as Arteta plans to play both of them in collusion.

Romeo Lavia’s condition will depend on whether or not Arsenal are successful in signing their top target Declan Rice. Once they are able to procure the Englishman which according to the reports of Fabrizio Romano is a close possibility then will they go behind the Southampton lad.

Declan Rice is going to cost fortunes as we already know and after spending £100 million on the midfielder, Arsenal will have to make sales in order to get other candidates they desire. Kai Havertz too is in Arteta’s priority target least and the German as well will not come in cheap with estimated ask by Chelsea being £75 million.

Thomas Partey’s exit has nothing to do with his performance or Arteta’s confidence in him, it’s only a result of heavy signings being made by the Gunners as they look to battle for the title yet again.

Partey’s market value is yet to be determined but it surely will be around if not over what Arsenal paid to Atletico Madrid in 2020. The North Londoners got Parety for £45 million who has signed his contract with them until the end of the 2025 season.

Fabrizio Romano claims that there is a concrete chance of Partey leaving and with Xhaka also leaving for Bayer Leverkusen, Arsenal have clearly shown their intent of going all in for Declan Rice and penning the midfielder with Manchester United slowly subsiding from the race.
