Arsenal reportedly interested in signing Eric Garcia from Barcelona this summer

Eric-Garcia-Arsenal

According to the reports by Spanish publications Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal are planning a summer transfer swoop for another former Manchester City player in Eric Garcia from Barcelona.

During the last winter transfer window, we sights set on Garcia. Yet, for several reasons, a relocation never materialised. Yet, Arsenal are still holding out hope that they may get the Spaniard at the conclusion of the season despite his dismal 2022/23 campaign.

Indeed, Garcia has lost a lot of support at Barça this year. Xavi doesn’t see a big role for the former Man City player because of the emergence of newcomer Andreas Christensen and the strong seasons of Jules Kounde and Ronald Araujo. Garcia’s poor performance has prompted questions about his future with the team, particularly considering that Barcelona are close to finalising a deal to acquire Inigo Martinez from Athletic Club.

Reports have surfaced that in an effort to balance the finances, Barça might sell off both Eric Garcia and the seasoned Jordi Alba this coming summer.

Arsenal enters the battle at this point…

The Gunners have had a good season so far in the league, but they will be again in the market for level raisers. A young Polish player named Jakub Kiwior was brought in during the January transfer window, although he has no prior experience playing at the top level of the sport – he looks like he has solid potential. So, next season, Garcia may provide as a back up to Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba, especially if Rob Holding were to leave.

Barcelona, however, may see Garcia’s departure favourably since it creates opportunities for new income and makes room for Inigo Martinez.
