Atletico Madrid come in for Mohamed Elneny

Mohamed Elneny has been a loyal servant to Arsenal, and is one of the most likeable players on the current roster. But according to recent reports, the Egyptian Pirlo is subject to transfer interests from Atletico Madrid for a potential move in the winter.

The Red side of Madrid are facing a bit of a midfield conundrum and are been linked with ample midfielders from Premier League, but for Diego Simeone – Mo Elneny remerges as a strategic, ‘low-cost’ option buy to amplify their midfield.

Neny was sidelined nursing a long-term hamstring injury, but with time it looks like he is back to full fitness and considering the options Arsenal have in his position right now – his chances for game time look bleak.

According to reports by multiple sources in England, Mohamed Elneny – whose contract at the Emirates Stadium is up come summer, is seen as a viable option for Atletico Madrid for the January transfer window. He, in some sense, is also reminiscent to a trend of Atleti January singings viz. Mousa Dembélé or Doherty.

But there is a potential hiccup to any potential transfer; With the African Cup of Nations starting come January, and Mohamed Elneny all set to participate in the competition he would miss out on most of January with Span also playing their Spanish Super Cup ties in the similar time role.

Although there are expectations that his arrival will be a much-needed relief to the likes of Pablo Barrios, Koke, and Rodrigo De Paul.

February is set to be critical in Diego Simeone’s season with a Champions League Round of sixteen tie against Inter Milan marked already.

Let me relay, Neny has been a great servant and an important presence at Arsenal on and off the pitch. It would be wonderful to watch him lift silverware wearing the Arsenal badge. And I will still be hopeful of that to happen till i see him lining up in a Madrid jersey.
