Another Arsenal star confirms Exit from the Club

Arsenal’s defensive midfielder Charlie Gilmour took to social media site Instagram to confirm that he would be leaving the club in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old midfielder made his debut for the senior team earlier this season when he came off the bench in a few games in the Group stages of the Europa League. Gilmour spent 14 years at the North London club and will finally leave the Emirates on a free transfer.

Gilmour was a regular in the U-23’s for the remainder of the season and even captained the young PL2 side on several occasions. The Scotsman had great admiration for Arsenal and wanted to go on and play for the Gunners’ first team in the near future but due to the surplus of high-quality talented players in Unai Emery’s squad, Gilmour posted a heartfelt message on Instagram confirming his departure.

He posted a picture with a caption that read, “14 years.. from the age of 6 years old to 20 years old. I leave the club I have supported all my life. It has been the craziest journey throughout my childhood with so many ups & downs along the way. From moving away from my family at the age of 13 to grafting each and every day. My biggest highlight is to say that I’ve played for Arsenal football club. Thank you to everyone who has helped me in my career so far. The journey continues. #OnceAGoonerAlwaysAGooner 🔴⚪️ p.s I’m a free agent,”

With the additions of Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, and even Joe Willock, there seemed to be little hope for Gilmour to get the nod ahead of the three defensive midfielders.

However, Gilmour possesses a good passing range and there should be a number of top clubs interested in signing the youngster in the summer.
