Arsenal snapped Danny Welbeck for £16 million on summer deadline day of 2014-15. Lack of opportunities in Manchester United led Welbeck to move to Arsenal. But he was unable to showcase his qualities with the Gunners with injury proving hindrance every now and then.

Welbeck’s current deal with Arsenal collapses at the end of next season and the question stands – Do we really need him?

Arsenal have two deadly strikers in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, who can get the ball into the net on regular basis. Both possesses serious pace threat and some serious shooting quality.

No doubt, Welbeck can do a job if needed. He offers Arsenal some size up front and, if they want to go in a different direction, then putting Welbeck up top may not be such a bad idea.

But it will restrict the play time of those who really need them. Aubameyang or Lacazette? Naah, I’m not talking about them. Eddie Nketiah has shown he’z got ‘What it takes’ to become serious attacking threat going forward. Welbeck consume some playing time which would be essential in Nketiah’s development.

Danny Welbeck is recently linked with a move to Everton. Now this seems likely as the Toffees are looking to replace Romelu Lukaku every now and then, and former Man Utd man could just be their answer. Everton do have Cenk Tosun and Celvert-Lewin upfront but getting a player of Welbeck’s posture means something different.

The way Welbeck plays also lays similarity over what Lukaku possess and this similarity may just be the burning point for Everton to snap him up from the Gunners.

Acquiring Danny’s service will cost Everton around £16m. With the cash Arsenal are getting they may just be tempt to cash in on Danny giving Unai Emery some more money to play with before the summer finally ends.
