Everton vs Arsenal: Preview | Premier League 2020/21

Everton-vs-Arsenal-PL

Arsenal head up north to Goodison Park to take on Everton with Mikel Arteta’s side in desperate need of a win.

The Gunners are in terrible form at the moment, and are currently on a run of six consecutive league games without a win. It is their worst points tally in the league at this stage since way back in the 1974-1975 season. Arsenal are languishing in the bottom half of the table, and currently 15th in the table, having picked up just 14 points from 13 games so far.

Everton meanwhile, are sitting comfortably in 5th place having beaten Chelsea and Leicester City in their previous two games. Back to back wins will hopefully mean that the Toffees have gotten their campaign back on track and they will be looking to keep a clean sheet and pick up three points against a mis-firing Arsenal squad.

This game has become a must-win for Mikel Arteta to ease off the growing pressure from fans calling for his sacking, and his team must deliver a result tomorrow.

When and Where?

Team News

Arsenal are missing their new midfield signing as Thomas Partey is still sidelined alongside Brazilian youngster Gabriel Martinelli. Granit Xhaka and Gabriel were both sent off for Arsenal in the space of four days, and remain suspended for this fixture. Hector Bellerin is available for selection after serving a one-match but Maitland-Niles is expected to start over the Spaniard who has been in poor form of late.

The Toffees too are missing several key players, with Lucas Digne, James Rodriguez and Allan all missing from action. Allan picked up a hamstring injury in the 2-0 victory over Leicester, meaning Ancelotti will most likely field Andre Gomes alongside Doucoure in midfield. In-form striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, has already scored 11 league goals this season, just as many as Arsenal have scored across their 13 league games so far.

Predicted Lineup

Everton:

Pickford; Holgate, Mina, Keane, Godfrey, Kenny; Iwobi, Gomes, Doucoure, Richarlison; Calvert-Lewin

Arsenal:

Leno; Holding, Luiz, Tierney; Maitland-Niles, Elneny, Ceballos, Saka; Pepe, Lacazette, Aubameyang
