As you sow so shall you reap!
This reaction of Granit Xhaka was being planted by the Arsenal fans from long. The supporters at Emirates have not shown the respect that he deserves even after tolerating all their nuisances over the months.
The Swiss captain has done unto them as they were doing unto him. For the last three years, Arsenal fans have been ridiculing him way worse than they do to their enemies.
Be it the brutal treatment or the death threats, harassment of his wife or his newborn child. Xhaka, however, has taken the armband with all his pride only to honour the club and respect the badge.
There had to repercussions of the love they were showering and what Xhaka did was just a reaction to the cumulative embarrassments he was receiving. The disrespect that Xhaka showed was only to the treatment he had received in past.
I don’t understand why did people react in a manner that proved Xhaka wrong.
“He was wrong, he was wrong,” Emery said. “But I think now [we] stay calm and also speak with him, speak inside around that. His reaction was wrong. We are here because we have supporters. In football we are the workers inside [the pitch] but we play for them. We need to have respect for them when they are applauding us and also when they are criticising us.”
I am someone who was not as much on board with appointment of Granit as Arsenal’s captain but if the players in the dressing room feels he is worth wearing an armband then alright, we have to respect that.
Think of him as someone like Jordan Henderson, did Anfield boo him when things weren’t going right for them? I don’t think soo. They respect him and back him no matter what and that is what I think we as a supporters should do. Remember, regardless of what you think of Xhaka – he is an absolute team player and has been part of soo much with us. Yes, again his reaction was wrong on his part but we as fans should have just appreciated his presence rather coz’ the jeerings just officially confirm the club is broken.
What the Arsenal fans did to Xhaka was ridiculous for a servant so loyal to them. You treat a human so unfair for three straight years and you expect him to stay quiet forever?
