Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin looked in severe pain when his leg gave out in Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat to Arsenal yesterday, and first look doesn’t look good – he may face upto nine months on the sidelines.

Hector was restored into Arsenal’s starting eleven by Unai Emery after recovering from calf injury and he did make an impact when Alexandre Lacazette was on the mark in the 14th minute with bliss of touches to Hector Bellerin’ cross before beating Kepa Arrizabalaga on the turn on the near post.

According to former NFL head team doctor and practicing orthopedic surgeon David J. Chao, Hector Bellerin could face about nine months on the sidelines.

Hector Bellerin was stretchered off in tears and this looks serious

In response to a video of Bellerin’s injury, Chao wrote: “By video, Hector Bellerin @Arsenal tears his left knee quad tendon.

“Doesn’t appear to be ACL, but still surgery and at least as severe.”

He then added: ”Good news: not ACL tear.

“Bad news: quad tendon tear, surgery and 9 months rehab.”

Unai Emery was not positive as well about the first look about Hector Bellerin’s injury saying: “It is his knee and the first prediction is it is an important [bad] injury.

“I hope not, but it is not positive our first impression.”

Hector Bellerin is third serious injury to hit Arsenal this season after Danny Welbeck and Rob Holding.

Back in November, Danny Welbeck went down with a broken ankle which again appeared to be a freak injury against Sporting Lisbon. Then Rob Holding was ruled out for the rest of the season after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in December.
