Hector Bellerin is the man to boast with the armband this season

For the starters, Arsenal have deprived themselves of 2 named captains from last year. Don’t be flummoxed to hear that the management had named 5 for the season 2018-19.

Aaron Ramsey and Petr Cech were the two amongst 5 named captains who have left the club already. While the former has flown away to join Juventus, Cech on the other hand has declared retirement. The other supposed captains were Mesut Ozil and Laurent Koscielny, both of whom also have a bewildered future.

While we search a £350,000 per week buyer for Ozil whom Emery wants to get rid of, Laurent now 33 is more prone to injuries than he is capable to handle the squad. Now, out of the quintet that were supposed to hold the stewardship for last season, Granit Xhaka remains.

The Swiss international will surely pan out to be Emery’s favourite to hold the line-up scroll before the start and secondary to the midfielder will mostly be Hector Bellerin who may be coming out of a long term injury but is still our experienced candidate.

The captain’s role may be a unnecessary ritual for many fans but to hold the unity and behold the strength of squad, a leader is must. One that has to be constructive and adored by the players.

Granit Xhaka is an inharmonious figure among the fans; some like him while some don’t. This gives Bellerin a reason to hold the armband and also the pressure affixed to it.

If there is one who can bring the Gunners together, bound and woven to a single goal, it is Hector Bellerin. He surely is the man of Unai Emery’s era capable of handling the helm for as long as Gerrard of Wenger’s.
