Latest reports have claimed that Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin will miss the start of the new Premier League campaign as he continues his recovery from a knee injury that he suffered back in January following a 2-0 win against Chelsea.

Unai Emery’s defensive woes have been hit with another big blow as right-back Hector Bellerin looks set to miss a major part of the start of the 2019/20 season. A club statement from Arsenal at the time confirmed, “The rehabilitation process is expected to take between six to nine months and therefore rules Hector out of action for the remainder of this season”.

The Spanish defender was one of Emery’s key players and look revitalized under the 47-year-old’s guidance but unfortunately will be out for a while even for the next season.

Arsenal was cruising in the Premier League last term as Emery guided the club on a 22 game unbeaten streak across all competitions and brought back the smiles on the faces of the loyal Gunners. The North London outfit had a top-four berth in their hands and was looking a strong force in the Europa League competition as well.

However, a shambolic few weeks towards the end of the season indicated that there is a lot of work that needs to be completed at Arsenal in order for the club to be renowned as a major force or threat to compete for major honors in the near future.

One department that Arsenal really needs to fix upon is their defense and with only a £40 million transfer budget, it will be a difficult task for Emery to achieve that in just this one summer. Spanish right-back Hector Bellerin was one of the most important players for Emery and the 24-year-old’s absence for the remainder of the campaign genuinely affected Arsenal big time.

Reports claimed that Bellerin was supposed to make a return to Arsenal’s training just before their preseason began but those hopes have been shattered as the Spaniard will now take a longer time to recover despite successful surgery. Englishman Ainsley Maitland Niles will be the most viable option at right back for Arsenal as Stephan Lichtsteiner has already left the club.
