Following Arsenal’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle United, Jorginho spoke to the Brazilian media about the importance of the win for the Gunners in the Premier League title race against Manchester City. While Arsenal’s chances of winning the title are slim, the midfielder believes that it is important for the team to do their work on the pitch and let their fans appeal to a higher power for Manchester City to stumble in their remaining fixtures.

Jorginho highlighted the difficulty of the match against Newcastle, who are also fighting for important goals this season. The midfielder noted that the stadium’s warm atmosphere made the game challenging, but also acknowledged that it was an entertaining match for the fans.

Jorginho speaking with ESPN Brasil – “It’s clear why. Two teams fighting for important goals, stadium with a very warm atmosphere. It’s wonderful. Everything was beautiful. We knew it would be a very physical match and that we would have to fight hard to get the three points. I think those who watched it had fun.”

In terms of the title race, Jorginho emphasized that Arsenal’s main focus should be winning their remaining matches against Brighton & Hove Albion, Nottingham Forest, and Wolverhampton Wanderers. The midfielder jokingly suggested that fans could pray or light candles for Manchester City to stumble, but ultimately stressed the importance of Arsenal taking care of their own business.

“What to do first is win our matches. Then, I don’t know, each with their belief. Those who could pray, light a candle… just kidding. The most important thing is that we win our matches. If we think about them and we don’t win, it’s no use. Then we’ll see what happens.”

Currently, Arsenal sit one point behind Manchester City in the Premier League table, with three matches left to play. While their chances of winning the title are slim, the Gunners will hope to finish the season strongly and secure a top-four finish. Meanwhile, Manchester City will have to navigate their remaining fixtures against Everton, Chelsea, Brighton, and Brentford, as well as two clashes against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.
