Manchester City’s assistant manager will look to hand himself a promotion as he looks to hold the helm of Arsenal. The Gunners have lost faith in Freddie Ljungberg as the interim manager has not recycled the squad after Unai Emery’s sacking.

Mikel Arteta is set to meet Arsenal chief Josh Kroenke in his third and final interview before he is assigned as new Arsenal chief.

The second set of the interview took place at Arteta’s home wherein he had invited managing director Vinai Venkatesham and chief negotiator Huss Fahmy and had hosted the evening.

The former Arsenal player has left Manchester City fuming and in dark at Arteta’s decision of leaving Etihad for Emirates.

The final call will be on Kroenke Jr to sign or not to sign Arteta. The assistant manager of Manchester City had retired in 2016 as a player of Arsenal. Sportsmail revealed earlier on Monday that Arteta was ready to leave City immediately to return to London for his first managerial role.

The former Gunners midfielder has a personal liking for the club that he used to play for and had clearly indicated that he is ready to join Arsenal as soon as possible. Arsenal has already contacted Manchester City to discuss Arteta’s release clause.

Arteta has been in charge and with Guardiola for a good time now and his experience with the Spaniard surely helps his resume. He has a winning mentality and had tactical prowess that will surely help the Gunners in time to come.
