Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang = Arsenal’s modern era Thierry Henry?

The Gabonese frontman, the winner of Premier League golden boot and the protagonist of Arsenal’s semi final win against Valencia has been compared to the all time Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry.

Arsenal cruised past their opponents and repelled the history of losing to Valencia courtesy hat-trick of Aubameyang, his first for the Gunners in an utterly significant match. Although we were ahead in the first but it was Auba that got us the win by ruthlessly humiliating the Valencia fans.

A 7-3 victory in aggregate score against a team like Valencia was possible because of 3 sensational strikes by Aubameyang which I have already talked about in previous article. Like me, former Arsenal defender Keown was all praises too.

“I have said it before but he is the closest thing to Henry and he is proving that,” former Gunners defender Keown told BT Sport.

“We are getting out of our chairs every time he has the ball. Let’s credit Emery as well for playing both of those strikers Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil as well.”

“He was cup-tied last year and boy did Arsenal miss him. He was Eden Hazard-like running with the ball at times.”

“He became a top player for me against Valencia. I’ve said he is the closest thing to Henry and he showed it.”

The extensive damage that Auba cause deserves much more credit for the way he scored goals. He did remind us all of Thierry Henry and why has Keown called him the closest thing the legendary footballer.

“Aubameyang runs under the initial header but his reaction is magnificent.”

“He backs Lacazette to win it and that is a brilliant finish. He has beaten the goalkeeper on his favourite side. He shows him the other side of the goal but it is a brilliant equaliser.”

“Aubameyang had his best night in an Arsenal shirt. He was on a different level to everyone else out there.”

The Gabonese has already scored 29 this season and if he scores 1 in an all important final against Chelsea at Baku, he’ll share the feat of scoring 30 goals in a season with Thierry Henry.
