Valencia shot stopper set to become Petr Cech’s replacement

Recent reports have claimed that Premier League outfit Arsenal has made contact with La Liga club Valencia over a deal for signing their goalkeeper Neto as a replacement for the retiring Petr Cech.

There is no denying that Petr Cech has been one of the greatest goalkeepers to ever grace the Premier League. In his illustrious career as the 37-year-old has won plenty of major honors with Chelsea as well as Arsenal in a career that spanned over 16 years in England’s top flight.

However, Cech has decided to hang up his boots at the end of this season and he has a chance of going out as a winner against his former side. Arsenal will face Chelsea in the final of the Europa League in Baku on May 26th with a chance for the Gunners to qualify for the Champions League.

Cech’s retirement will mean that Arsenal will have to look for another goalkeeper for the next season as Bernd Leno will probably be the number one choice for the Gunners next few seasons. The North London side have contacted Valencia to bid for their goalkeeper Neto but the Brazilian shot-stopper isn’t happy with the deal he is being offered.

It is understood that Arsenal is not offering Neto a massive wage rate in comparison to Cech’s £110,000 a week. The 29-year-old is also not interested in playing for Arsenal if they fail to compete in the Champions League next season.

Arsenal will still be looking to snap up a deal for Neto to the Emirates Stadium as a backup keeper for Leno. Valencia has already qualified for the Champions League but after Arsenal overcame the Spanish side in the semifinals of the Europa League, Neto could be tempted to join the North London giants instead of remaining with the Spanish side.
