Arsenal can snap Djibril Sow on a €20mil discount

Djibril-Sow-Arsenal

Arsenal have reportedly identified Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow as a potential target in the upcoming transfer window. According to a report by Sport1, who also provided their own insight into the German club’s stance on the midfielder’s potential transfer where the player’s agent was also approached for comment regarding the matter.

Apparently, Eintracht Frankfurt will not stand in the way of Sow’s departure to Arsenal after this season. Despite the fact that the 26-year-old’s contract is valid until 2024, the club’s sporting director Markus Krösche has been unable to secure an extension. This is because Sow is reportedly seeking a new challenge, and the club wants to avoid losing him for free next year.

Djibril Sow, the Switzerland international, has a release clause of €35m, but due to the remaining time on his current contract, he can be signed for €15m. According to Sport1, Arsenal is reportedly “exactly the next step” that he wants to take after this season. Nottingham Forest had attempted to secure Sow’s services last summer, but he had been keen on playing in the Champions League with Eintracht Frankfurt at the time. His agent, Jose Nogueira Rodriguez, has now indicated that a transfer is possible.

Sow’s agent stated that there had been options available to the midfielder previously, including a specific offer a year ago. However, Sow had opted to remain with Eintracht Frankfurt to compete in the Champions League. The agent also revealed that the club’s sporting director, Markus Krösche, had been informed that a transfer could be possible if an offer that satisfied both the player and the club was presented, with the summer of 2023 being the possible time of transfer.

In words of Jose Nogueira Rodriguez, Sow’s agent: “There were always options for Djibril Sow. A year ago, there was a very specific offer. He could have left the club. But the player wanted to take the Champions League with the great club Eintracht Frankfurt. However, Markus Krösche was always informed that with an offer that suits the player and the club, you can imagine changing in the summer of 2023.”

With both Eintracht Frankfurt and Sow willing to do business, Arsenal could potentially seal the deal for a lower price in the upcoming transfer window.
