Arsenal’s transfer chief, Edu, could finally land long-term target Orkun Kokcu, who is approaching an exit from Dutch giants Feyenoord. The young midfielder made his senior debut in 2018, and talks between the Gunners and Feyenoord reportedly took place two years ago. Although a move to Arsenal didn’t materialize, Kokcu is now living up to the high praise that he sparked earlier in his career, when he was compared to Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric.

At just 22 years old, Kokcu is the captain of Feyenoord, and has been impressing with his performances. He has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season, and his rising stock could make it harder for Arsenal to attract him this summer. However, the fact that he is approaching the final two years of his contract makes him an attainable option for Edu.

Former Liverpool midfielder Sissoko once compared Kokcu to Modric, and acquiring a younger version of the Real Madrid veteran would be warmly welcomed by Arsenal fans. The Gunners are currently fighting for a Premier League title, which could make convincing the player to sign fairly simple.

Overall, the potential acquisition of Kokcu would provide Arsenal with a talented young midfielder who has already proven himself at a high level. While he may have some way to go to live up to the Modric comparison, he could be a valuable asset to the Gunners in their quest to establish themselves as regular challengers for the Premier League title.
