The latest reports have claimed that Premier League side Arsenal has the opportunity to sign their long term transfer target Steven N’Zonzi this summer transfer window.
Following the departure of Welsh star Aaron Ramsey, Arsenal needs to find a suitable replacement for the midfielder and are looking into the transfer market to fill up the void. Lucas Torreira and Matteo Geundouzi have shown that they are more than capable of playing in the center of the park but the duo are still inexperienced and Emery wants to sign a high profile midfielder to slot in alongside them.
Arsenal has been linked with signing Steven N’Zonzi for quite a few seasons now and the English outfit has a great chance at snapping up the World Cup winner this summer as he is keen on a move away from AS Roma after just one season with the Italian side.
N’Zonzi made 28 appearances for Roma in the Serie A but the Italian side is looking to revamp their whole squad and add some young players to reinforce the team. This means that the 30-year-old will be considered as a surplus for Roma and Arsenal finally have the chance to lure the Frenchman to the Emirates Stadium.
Unai Emery has worked with N’Zonzi before when the duo spent time together at La Liga club Sevilla. N’Zonzi also has the experience of playing in the Premier League as he previously had spells at Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers.
But Arsenal isn’t the only club that is interested in signing Nzonzi as their local rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the situation of the classy midfielder.
