Gabriel Jesus injury update

Gabriel-Jesus-Arsenal

Arsenal & the Gooners fans were sweating when Gabriel Jesus was called-up for Brazil national squad, especially after missing out at the Emirates in the recent games. A sigh of relief, Jesus has been left out of the squad to face Colombia and has stayed back in Brazil – although he is still in contention to face Argentina next week.

Gabriel Jesus did take part in training with Brazil, yet not with the full squad all the time. As stated earlier, the Evening Standard confirmed that he was left out of Brazil’s team to face Colombia, but he has remained in the country and is still in position to face Argentina next week.

Looking at it from Arsenal prospective, they are keeping track that Jesus’ isn’t rushed back by Brazil. When they decided to go ahead with the call-up despite injury – there were reports that Arsenal were dissatisfied behind the scenes, but Brazil staffs worked to assuage suspicions of a conflict with the Gunners.

“There is great alignment of information (between the national team and Arsenal),” Brazilian team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar told a press conference. The club always has a different philosophy to the national team, I know how it works. But with relationships and the exchange of information, we want the best. We have been monitoring the situation since the injury. Having maintained contact with the club doctor and the athlete, we know that he is recovering from an injury to the back of his right thigh.

“He has already begun his physical adaptation on the field, he has not played yet. When he arrives, he will go through all evaluations and we will continue with the final rehabilitation process. We have no decision on when he will play, but it is important to have him close and we called up 24 players for that reason. The player was willing to come, wanting to come, and we value him a lot.”
