INSIGHT: PSG midfielder Christopher Nkunku to Arsenal

After the deal between Arsenal and Barcelona for signing Denis Suarez could not take shape, the Gunners tried to foster a deal with Paris-Saint-Germans. The North Londoners are trying to get a 21-year-old French midfielder Named Christopher Nkunku. The versatile playmaker has already been under Emery’s stewardship for 36 games during his time in Paris.

Amidst the reports of Denis Suarez, the signing of Nkunku has recently grabbed attention. A French journal L’Equipe had added reports of Arsenal holding talks with PSG , It said,“Arsenal have brokered a deal with PSG whereby Nkunku will move to north London on loan until the end of the season with an option to purchase him in the summer should he impress at the Emirates.“

Now the reports claim that the Gunners have moved a step forward and have sent scout to hold talks with the French club and cut a loan deal. While football.london claim that PSG are ready to lend the youngster if they are successful in signing a replacement from either Zenit Saint Petersburg star Leandro Paredes, Bayern Munich’s Renato Sanches or Allan of Napoli.

The scout has been sent by Arsenal to make a deal with PSG to take Nkunku on loan until the end of the season, with an option to buy next year. The £18 million midfielder who was viewed as a buffer for Denis Suarez is now Arsenal’s top loan target. The versatile midfielder with ability to play in the right-wing back position is now Arsenal’s favourite because of Hector Bellerin’s injury. The PSG man may not be a traditional right-back but has played in the right-wing back position a lot.

Thomas-Tuchel

Nkunku has found it difficult to break into Thomas Tuchel’s PSG

Apart from Arsenal’s approach, the PSG midfielder is also interested in leaving the club to play under his former coach due to lack of game-time under Thomas Tuchel.

“The observation is that the playing time and his place in the rotation aren’t enough,” Nkunku’s agent José Pierre-Farfan explained.

“Christopher is open to leaving in order to develop. There’s been no discussion with PSG yet, but in terms of the sporting situation, it’s not enough. He needs to step up to the next level and that’s not possible at PSG, especially when he is used in different positions.”

“There’s no longer a path to progress. This is about whether he can move up to the next level and settle at a club that plays in Europe.”

Maybe Christopher’s agent is pointing a move to England or even specific in North London. Only time to tell!
